At this late stage in the game’s development, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a sixth map release. Instead, the studio is probably hard at work on State of Decay 3, though there’s still no word as to when it will release.

How to Change Maps in State of Decay 2

There are three ways to change maps in State of Decay 2. You can either return to the main menu and start a new community on your desired map, or you can complete the game and, instead of forming a legacy and calling it quits, move on to the next map. Lastly, once you unlock your Command Center and open up a route out of the current map, you can find an exit point along the exterior of each map that will allow you to choose a new home location.

What is the Best Map in State of Decay 2?

For many, the idea of a “best map” in State of Decay 2 is purely subjective. Everyone has a favorite, depending on your playstyle and aesthetic preferences. Personally, I’m fond of Providence Ridge. It’s the one map I’ve completed more than any other, and it also features some of the best bases in the game.

But overall, fans genuinely love Trumbull Valley. It’s the first game’s original and only map, and it was ported over to State of Decay 2 with numerous enhancements. For instance, how can you not love the Farmland Compound in the center of the map? It’s gorgeous and the perfect defensive fort to withstand the zombie apocalypse!
