State of Decay 2 Homecoming

State of Decay 2: The Best Bases in Trumbull Valley

We were all expecting Undead Labs to announce a return to Trumbull Valley in State of Decay 2: Homecoming, but what an announcement trailer! But now, with the updated map — originally from the original State of Decay and later found in State of Decay 2: Heartland — it’s time to explore the best bases in Trumbull Valley!

The Top Bases in Trumbull Valley

In all, there are a total of six bases in Trumbull Valley. The starter base, Checkpoint Delta, is found in the western portion of the map, comes with nine total slots, including six small outdoor, counting the four parking spots, and three small indoor, making it one of the finest starter bases in State of Decay 2.

But hey, we’re not here for the starter base. You want to know all about the best bases in Trumbull Valley, and we’ve got you covered!

Pterodactyl Park

As a spiritual successor to Heartland‘s Jurassic Junction, Pterodactyl Park features the same iconic dinosaur imagery, albeit with an airborne twist.

This time around you’ll note the pterodactyl adorning the elevated base, along with other prehistoric decorations to set the mood.

With fourteen facility slots, including eight small outdoor, five small indoor, and a single large slot, this two-story converted trailer park serves as a fantastic mid-tier base when clearing the eastern portion of Trumbull Valley.

On top of multiple empty slots to build, you’ll enjoy a soundproof latrine, trailer park beds, trailer park storage, and two clearable slots in the form of grisly remains and a trash pile.

Red Talon Daybreak FOB

Anyone who has played State of Decay 2 extensively knows about Red Talon — a paramilitary organization running ops in the game world to clear zed, and they definitely have ulterior motives.

One thing you can count on, however, is their high-tech equipment. With the Red Talon Daybreak FOB, you’ll gain access to the northernmost base in Trumbull Valley, complete with thirteen total slots, including seven small outdoor slots, five small indoor slots, and a large slot.

Speaking of slots, the FOB comes stock with a CLEO Relay, Neglected Red Talon Workshop, Rancid Red Talon Officer Quarters, Ransacked Red Talon Bunkroom, Red Talon Armored Storage, and Red Talon Watchtower. For some of these structures, you’ll need to spend manpower and resources to reinvigorate them.

All in all, the Red Talon Daybreak FOB proves state-of-the-art for the zombie-killing survivor running a tight ship.

Farmland Compound

I’ll concede, Farmland Compound is easily my favorite base in State of Decay 2. It’s centrally located in Trumbull Valley, features a lengthy wall made up of fencing, concrete, and barbed wire, and features a compound-style layout, hence the name.

Farmland Compound reigns supreme as the largest base on the map. It will cost you 3,500 influence to acquire, and at least six people, but for that price tag you’ll receive three built-in facilities, three large slots, and two small slots.

Its central location, with a lot of open ground and dirt roads leading in and out, are the real features of this base, though. It’s a breeze to drive to any point on the map, then return home with ease, when you live in the Farmland Compound.

Fort Marshall

I have personally witnessed a tad bit of hate for Fort Marshall. The argument online is that, despite its size and construction, it’s too difficult to defend against zombie attacks, and hey, I can see that somewhat. It’s a large base.

But here’s the thing about Fort Marshall, it’s meant for large communities. It is one of the biggest bases on Trumbull Valley, and you need to have a sizable community to even move in.

With plenty of room for improvement, including six built-in facilities, two large slots, and two small slots. For a measly 2,000 influence, it’s worth moving to the southwest section of the map. Here, you can clear the city of Marshall.

Well, there you have it, survivors! Four of the best bases in Trumbull Valley!

While the new map is a ton of fun, perhaps you want something classic?
