State of Decay 2: How Does the Bounty Broker Work?

When State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition launched on Steam on March 13, 2020, the game was already jam-packed with content to enjoy, including the Bounty Broker, who was introduced in Update 10. If you’re new to the game, perhaps you’ve yet to meet the Bounty Broker, or, better yet, maybe you’ve yet to travel in his direction. He tends to set up camp well away from civilization.

But who is the Bounty Broker and what does he do for the player?

From Update 10 On

When Update 10 released on July 31, 2019, it introduced a brand-new character, the Bounty Broker, who set up a van in each one of the game’s maps — Providence Ridge, Meagher Valley, Cascade Hills, and Drucker County. From his meager arrangements, you could take on odd jobs, like a kill specific number of special infected using a, say, crossbow while crouched. If you complete the objective, you unlock a unique piece of gear — firearm, melee weapon, clothing item, etc.

How Do Bounties Work in State of Decay 2?

Once you speak with the Bounty Broker and select a bounty you feel comfortable completing, an objective will appear in the top-right corner of your HUD. It persists across each community you’re currently playing, so don’t worry about progression mixups.

After completing the objectives of the bounty, return to Mr. Van-Down-by-the-River for your reward.

Once you unlock an item, it becomes available for purchase using Influence, again, across all of your communities.

What Type of Bounty Packs Are Available?

Developer Undead Labs understands we want new content, especially new weapons to slaughter the undead with, which is why they’ve come up with a few unique Bounty Packs. These packs rotate out every few months, so check back with the Bounty Broker often.
