Fallout 76: How to Earn Caps Fast

They say money makes the world go round, and in Fallout 76, that much is true. You need to learn how to earn caps to purchase ammunition, armor, Stimpaks, and, of course, to simply fast-travel about the game world.

But as a newcomer, because, hey, the game is worth playing now, Bethesda’s tumultuous massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) makes it tough to get rich quickly. You may find yourself with empty pockets and a strong desire to earn caps in Fallout 76.

Here’s how you stack bottle caps sky-high!

Taking Down Super Mutants

Arguably one of the best methods to earn caps in-game is to tackle Super Mutant camps. For most Super Mutant kills, you’ll receive a random sum of caps as earned loot. However, not all drop money, most will drop weapons, armor, or scrap, all of which you may sell for a tidy sum.

Furthermore, despite their size and brutality, Super Mutants aren’t overwhelming difficulty to topple. If you have a durable melee weapon, or some spare ammo in your pipe revolver, you can easily hold your own against most Super Mutant combatants.

Take Part in Events

All across the world of Fallout 76, from the early-game Flatwoods to Mt. Storm Power Station, you’ll stumble upon in-game events. These events range from taking down rebellious Mr. Handy robots to reactivating pre-war machinery to can food for the wasteland. The objective varies, and so does the reward.

For the most part, once you complete an event, you’ll receive scaling loot, depending on difficulty level, that includes armor sets, weaponry, ammunition, and of course, caps. But the loot you pick up from taking down mobs, all of which you can sell to traders, can help you accumulate caps rather quickly.

Sell Mothman Eggs

Bethesda jampacked a lot of lore into Fallout 76. One such piece of lore is the Mothman—a local legend in the Appalachia region.

In Fallout 76, if you wander down to the Mothman Museum, you’ll find a collection of bright red eggs. You may sell these eggs for four caps per egg, which, yes, does not sound like a lot. But you can harvest so many Mothman eggs at once, the money quickly adds up.

The downside? Most vendors in Fallout 76 do not have enough caps to pay you for your eggs. You’ll need to visit multiple vendors, or, alternatively, swap servers a few times, to really rake in the caps.

What Can I Buy With Caps in Fallout 76?

As it were, quite a lot. While much of the game revolves around crafting supplies to keep you viable, Bethesda did lovingly create a functional economy through NPC vendors scattered about the game world. On top of NPCs, you can use caps to buy gear, weapons, aid items, and crafting plans from player-owned bases.

For instance, if you’re actively trying to find Plasma Grenade Plans, but cannot find the plans in the Ash Heap, why not find a player-controlled shop? You might get lucky. They may have a few of the world’s rarest, most valuable items or weapons on hand!

Well, there you have it! Three quick and easy ways to earn caps in Fallout 76.
