So, you finally appointed your first leader in State of Decay 2, and now you want to know what comes next. Well, first off, hopefully, your leader comes with a few of the best traits in the game, which will certainly help you overcome the zombie apocalypse. But more important than anything else, now that they are the chosen leader, is their Legacy Boons!
What is a Legacy Boon? There are four to choose from: Builder, Sheriff, Trader, and Warlord, and each one features its own unique tasks to complete and buffs to your settlement. Once you’ve finished the appropriate tasks, you can then use your new Legacy Boon when forming a new community from the main menu.
Essentially, a Legacy Boon provides your new community with a notable bonus, usually in the form of gifts to kickstart your colony in the very beginning. It’s a minor advantage but one worth your time.
The Builder Legacy Boon – Amenities
Do you want to build a long-term community? We’re talking the 100-day challenge on Dread, Nightmare, or Lethal Zones.
Yeah? That sounds good to you, right?
The Builder Legacy Boon is perfect for long-term colonies, as it provides both Power and Water to all facilities completely free, thereby saving you some hassle along the way.
To unlock the Builder Legacy Boon, simply appoint a Builder to lead your community, then complete their unique quest line for lifetime bonuses in your next community.
The Sheriff Legacy Boon – Charity
Does the idea of charity sound good to you? How about if it benefits your community?
With the Sheriff Legacy Boon, upon claiming your first base, you’ll receive a Starter Package loaded with goodies to help you get started. It contains a ranged weapon, ammunition, a Community Textbook, and a few high-tier consumables.
In total, there are four packages, though you only get one chosen at random by the game. Those packages include:

Again, the one you receive depends solely on the game and how it feels that day.
But that’s not all for the Sheriff Legacy Boon. You’ll also receive a random daily delivery, which contains four different items, including one Bag of Snacks and one Bottle of Painkillers, which are guaranteed in each daily drop.
You could receive an AR-15, M1-A, Model 870, Brush Axe, Carving Knife, Crowbar, Flashbangs, Molotovs, Smoke Grenades, Ammunition, or up to five units of a random resource. The list goes on for what is arguably one of the most beneficial Legacy Boons!
The Trader Legacy Boon – Favors
Do you fancy yourself a savvy trader in the apocalypse? If so, then the Trader Legacy Boon is right up your alley.
After appointing a trader to lead your previous colony, then completing their quests, you’ll unlock the Trader Legacy Boon, which provides 4000 Influence upon claiming your first base, plus a survivor who visits your community for trade, allowing you to stock up on key supplies early on.
Eventually, the unique trader will leave your base, but you can find them at ‘The Boon Traders’ located in a safehouse somewhere on the map.
The Warlord Legacy Boon – Mobilization
Do you love firepower? Do you want to mow down zombies and clear the map of the undead menace? Then the Warlord Legacy Boon is yours for the choosing!
As per the name, the Warlord Legacy Boon offers up immense firepower to jumpstart your community of zed-killers. You’ll receive guns, ammunition, and explosives delivered to your locker upon forming a community.
