The Most Dangerous Zombies in State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2: The Most Dangerous Zombies in the Game

If you have any experience playing the original State of Decay or the more recent State of Decay 2, you’ve had your fair share of run-ins with the local denizens of, say, Providence Ridge or Cascade Hills. Believe it or not, even the most dangerous zombies in the game do have countertactics that work well!

Most importantly, you’ve tackled the most dangerous zombies in State of Decay 2, and you obviously lived to tell the tale. For those who have yet to face such challenges, or if you need to brush up on your zombie-stomping skills, let’s dive into the most dangerous zombies you’ll face!

Most Dangerous Zombies in State of Decay 2

Blood Plague Zombies

Your average zombie in State of Decay 2 doesn’t prove too much of a challenge for even inexperienced players. But on higher difficulties, when you add Blood Plague into the mix, you have a recipe for disaster—and a quick death awaiting your favorite survivors.

What is Blood Plague? It’s a type of disease contracted in State of Decay 2 that slows down the player and risks incapacitating or killing the survivor, and infection escalates with every consecutive hit. On lower difficulties, it’s manageable. You can return to base, let your survivor rest in an Infirmary, and you’ll be back on your feet in no time.

On higher difficulties, like Lethal Zone or Nightmare Zone, Blood Plague proves more deadly than ever. When you’re surrounded by a horde of Blood Plague Zombies or, even worse, a Blood Plague Feral, it’s easy to succumb to the fever and leave a survivor on the side of the road.

Juggernaut

Since the release of Left 4 Dead in 2008, it seems like every zombie game requires a selection of unique infected, like a tank-class monstrosity as an adversary. State of Decay 2 is no different. Here, we have the Juggernaut. It’s relatively slow, with lumbering steps, until it charges with wrecking ball-like speed.

You can kite a Bloater and use a firearm to whittle away its health. Or, you can go balls-to-the-wall with melee. One of the best tactics, especially on lower difficulties, where vehicles are plentiful, is to use the back of your car or truck to ram into the Juggernaut.

But on high difficulties, once again, we must consider Blood Plague, in which you’re then dealing with Plague Juggernauts. These monsters are covered in plague matter, ooze plague, and emit puke-like piles of Blood Plague with each ground attack. If you get too close, you get infected. It’s that simple.

Even worse is, on tougher difficulty settings, ammo is much more scarce. You’ll need to choose your tactics against the Plague Juggernaut wisely.

Feral

I purposefully placed the Feral last, despite the Juggernaut being one of the toughest enemies in the game. Personally, fuck all Ferals, especially Blood Plague Ferals. They’re fast like freaks, tackle you to the ground to ravage your survivor with quick hits, and they dodge plenty of your attacks on foot and in a vehicle, too.

When you add Blood Plague, it’s a recipe for death. I can’t count the number of survivors I’ve posted to Plague Ferals. Even worse is Plague Ferals have armor plating on their head. You can’t simply headshot one with ease.

Furthermore, Ferals can tear the door from your vehicle, then you. Your best option is to learn how to kite and dodge with aplomb or learn how to anticipate their dodge and run them down in a vehicle. One with spikes, preferably.
