State of Decay 2: Often Forgotten Lethal Zone Tips

Have you ever played Lethal Zone in State of Decay 2? It’s damn hard. It’s even more difficult if you forget a few worthwhile tips, like those I’ve accumulated here while playing and losing my own community. Here are a few forgotten Lethal Zone tips for State of Decay 2.

May your community live on!

Head on a Swivel

It’s easy to get tunnel vision when sweet, sweet loot is within sight. Instead of focusing on that one flashing loot crate, focus on your surroundings.

Either use your mouse or your controller to constantly sweep the area in a 360-degree arc to ensure you’re not surprised by looming zombies.

Unfortunately, a bug in State of Decay 2 allows certain special infected to materialize out of thin air occasionally.

Keep a close eye on your immediate surroundings and prepare to leap away from a threat!

Clear Every Room Before Looting

When you enter a building, you’ll note the small squares overlaying the floor plan on your map. Each of those squares indicates a room you have yet to clear of zombies.

Before you start looting, leaving your back open to attack, clear each room thoroughly. In doing so, you ensure you’re not open to an assault. Furthermore, by clearing a building, you create a “safe zone” in which, theoretically, no zombies should spawn.

But hey, this is Lethal Zone. Anything can and does happen on a whim!

Move Slowly, Live Longer

In the early days of Lethal Zone, when your survivors are weak and ill-equipped, you want to avoid sprinting to and fro while looting. It’s bad news!

By running, you make more noise which thereby attracts more zombies. And by zombies, I mean those damned Blood Plague Ferals that attack from the shadows behind you. Seriously, I lost two survivors last night to Ferals leaping from seemingly nowhere.

Why?

Because I foolishly made too much noise instead of taking the slow, easy route through a residential neighborhood in search of loot.

Move slowly, live longer!

Don’t Forget Extra Batteries

As an Xbox title at its core, State of Decay 2 plays extremely well with a controller. In fact, despite my PC gaming roots, it’s my preferred way to play the game.

Imagine my shock when—foolish me—I forgot to swap batteries before an extended gaming session. My controller died mid-combat, and thus, I died.

Don’t be like me. Have spare batteries on hand and ready to go. Or, better yet, if you know your batteries are about to zero out, swap them with a fresh set before diving into Lethal Zone!

Skip the Music

Personally, I enjoy listening to my own music while playing video games. Unfortunately, that music is deathcore, so it’s brash and loud.

In a game like State of Decay 2, specifically while playing on Lethal Zone, additional noise can become a nuisance. It distracts from the world around you, the impending doom of a zombie horde creeping up on your backside.

If you’re like me and play music while you game, consider turning it down significantly or off completely when playing State of Decay 2 Lethal Zone!
