Listen, I love a little gun porn in my video games. The more firearms I can pick up and use, the better. When I stumble upon rare weapon cases in State of Decay 2, you can bet I’m excited, and I’m sure you feel the same way. After all, who doesn’t enjoy blowing the skulls off the undead in Providence Ridge?!
But there’s a catch. Despite the sheer number of firearms in State of Decay 2, many of those are quite rare, and you can’t find them willy-nilly in any old crate or locker in the game. You have to locate the rare weapon cases scattered about the map.
What Are Rare Weapon Cases in State of Decay 2?
Spread all throughout the game world, in every map, you’ll find weapon cases. These are lootable containers containing rare and/or valuable pieces of weaponry.
The good news is, the locations are static. A weapon crate is hand-placed by the developers, so every time you load into, say, Meagher Valley, you’ll find the same rare weapon cases. The loot inside, however, will vary.
Furthermore, as of Update 17, every weapon case is fixed with a flashlight on top of the lid. This flashlight remains on until you open the case and loot its contents, allowing you to easier locate weapon crates at night.
Now, there are two types of weapon cases: scattered container cases and containers of a specific location. You can loot either one to find rare weaponry.
What Items Can I Find in Rare Weapon Cases?
Again, the loot for each container varies. However, you have a chance to find the following items in rare weapon cases:
