But this guide is about choosing the best base in Drucker County, and that means just one. For that honor, we had to choose the Barricaded Strip Mall. Besides offering an exceptional amount of space for a large community, it really captures that sense of surviving in the apocalypse. It’s the iconic living-out-of-a-shop experience.
The biggest downside to the Barricaded Strip Mall, unfortunately, is its location. It’s way out of the way, all the way to the north of the map. It’s a long drive to get anywhere of importance.

The Barricaded Strip Mall is not only the greatest base in Drucker County but also one of the top home bases in the entire game. It provides that authentic zombie survival feel, with little shops you can clear to construct various facilities.
Whether you play State of Decay 2 for roleplay purposes, or because you want to survive for 100 Days on Dread or Nightmare Difficulty, choosing the right base makes a massive difference. And really, you can’t go wrong with the Barricaded Strip Mall.
