State of Decay 2: What is the Best Base in Cascade Hills

The first few maps in State of Decay 2 remain fun to this day. One such map is Cascade Hills, where you can find a wide assortment of exceptional bases for early- and late-game survival. But you can only remain in one at a time. So, which is the best base in Cascade Hills?

Home Sites in Cascade Hills

When you select Cascade Hills for your colony, you have a few base options to select.

The home sites in Cascade Hills include:

  • Justineau House
  • Bridge Fort
  • Church on the Hill
  • Corner Office
  • Mohr & Mohr Distributing
  • Lock & Keogh Self Storage
  • Container Fort

That’s seven bases in Cascade Hills in all; a respectable amount of choice for new and veteran players alike.

What is the Best Base in Cascade Hills?

But again, you can only have one base at a time. So, which is it? Do you choose Loch & Keogh Self Storage or Container Fort or Mohr & Mohr Distributing? There are so many choices!

Loch & Keogh Self Storage

Like the other guides on this topic, this is completely subjective. But personally, I feel the best base in Cascade Hills is the Loch & Keogh Self Storage home site. It’s not technically the largest base on the map, though it does offer more facility slots and better aesthetic overall.

Built-In Facilities

  • 2x Abandoned Locker (Clearable)
  • Command Center
  • Elaborate Storage
  • Secret Distillery
  • 2x Sheltered Beds (Clearable)
  • Watchtower
  • 3x Parking

Open Slots

  • 2x Small Outdoor Slots
  • 1x Large Slot

Requirements

To move your community to Loch & Keogh Self Storage, you will require:

  • 6 Survivors
  • 1500 Influence (750 on Green Zone)

While the open slots do appear quite lacking at first, the four clearable slots allow for a little wiggle room when constructing your ideal end-game base. Furthermore, the built-in watchtower and secret distillery provide unique boons to your community in their respective ways.

Overall, the northerly position of Loch & Keogh Self Storage, while somewhat out of the way, proves advantageous. After all, how often do you travel north to loot Cascade Hills unless you live up there?
