The majestic lands of Pelican Town, including the pristine beach, dank mines, and bustling train station, are packed to the brim with unique Year 1 events in Stardew Valley. If you’re new to the farming adventure, chances are you’ll miss out on something.
Let’s ensure you don’t miss a single thing in your first year in Stardew Valley.
Year 1 Events in Stardew Valley by Season
Spring 2 — Fishing Pole Quest
You’ll wake up on your second morning in Pelican Town with an awaiting letter in your mailbox. The local fishermen, Willy, invites you down to the dock to teach you a thing or two about fishing in these flourishing lands. You’ll receive a bamboo fishing road — the first rod in the game — after the cutscene.
Spring 5 — Mines
If your inner dungeon dweller can wait almost a full week, you’ll find the mines unlocked for your adventuring self on day five. You’ll also receive a quest to reach level five in the mines, plus you’ll receive a battered sword for entering the cave the first time.
Spring 5-19 — Community Center
Much of the game focuses on rebuilding the aging Community Center above the town center. Between Spring 5-19, if you venture up the path out of your modest farm, you’ll be greeted by a cutscene involving both the player and Mayor Lewis. He’ll offer some backstory and open the door to the center.
Spring 15-18 — Salmonberry Season
Around the game world, you’ll notice an abundance of fresh, red berries now sprouting on various harvestable bushes. The Salmonberry is not only easily acquired but offers many healing effects, such as energy and health, and sells for 5g apiece at standard quality. It’s easy money!
Summer 3 — Railroad and Spa
Just to the north of Robin’s carpentry shop, a once-blocked passage is now open. If you make your way up and through, you’ll discover the railroad and spa are now open for your patronage.
Fall 9-11 — Blackberry Season
Like the Salmonberry Season of Spring, Fall plays host to the Blackberry Season between the 9th and the 11th. Unlike the Salmonberry, the Blackberry sells for 20g apiece at standard quality.
Guide Note: We recommend that, with any harvestable fruit, you consider stockpiling some to make wine, jam, or various cooking recipes. These products sell for more and provide greater health and energy regeneration.
We hope these exciting Year 1 events in Stardew Valley make for a prosperous and adventurous journey! Don’t forget to explore all of the random events that take place in-game when the player sleeps!
