How to Kill Zombies in State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2: Everything You Need to Know About Vehicle Upgrades

While State of Decay 2 isn’t the toughest game, especially when playing on lower difficulties, it becomes infuriatingly difficult when you play on, say, Lethal. No matter the difficulty, the map is large, and you’ll want to make use of various vehicles for traversal, to run down zombie hordes, and for storage purposes while looting multiple locations on any given run. But how do you improve vehicles? You’ll want to secure vehicle upgrade kits, that’s how!

But be wary! Even with an upgraded vehicle, you likely won’t want to drive straight into a Bloater or Juggernaut. They’ll still wreck your fully-upgraded Road Racer!

Vehicle Upgrade Kits

In State of Decay 2, vehicle upgrades come in three flavors: Light Vehicle Upgrade Kits, Medium Vehicle Upgrade Kits, or Heavy Upgrade Kits. The type of vehicle you drive will determine the type of upgrade kit necessary.

In the most basic terms imaginable, light vehicle kits will upgrade cars, medium kits will upgrade trucks, and heavy kits will upgrade vans. There are a few exceptions here and there, but rarely.

Where to Find Vehicle Upgrade Kits

You have a few options to find vehicle upgrade kits in State of Decay 2. You can barter for them with the occasional wandering trader, they may randomly spawn in the game world as loot, or you can craft them via the Auto Shop.

If you choose to craft your upgrade kits, you’ll require:

  • Light Upgrade Kits — 15 Circuitry, 70 Parts, 4 Materials
  • Medium Upgrade Kits — 10 Circuitry, 85 Parts, 4 Materials
  • Heavy Upgrade Kits — 5 Circuitry, 100 Parts, 4 Materials

For the most part, crafting these upgrade kits isn’t an issue. You’ll accumulate all of the required crafting materials over time.

However, you will require a survivor with automotive skills.
