Stardew Valley: How to Fish

Whether you aim to earn some cash in the early game, complete every bundle for the Community Center, or just fish for 100% completion, Stardew Valley features an easy-to-learn but hard-to-master fishing minigame. Here is how to fish in Stardew Valley!

How to Fish in Stardew Valley

To fish in Stardew Valley, you first need to unlock the fishing rod by speaking with Willie on your second day of Spring and then finding a body of water (lake, river, ocean, etc.) to cast your rod and activate the fishing minigame. From there, you must click the corresponding button/key to keep the fish within the green bar as it raises/lowers. You’ll catch a fish once you fill the fishing bar to completion!

It’s easier said than done, however. The fishing minigame is, in my humble opinion, the worst part of Stardew Valley. Keeping the fish within the green sector is tricky, though better fishing rods and bait can help make the task easier.

Personally, I usually wind up downloading a mod to either outright eliminate fishing by ensuring a catch every time or to make the minigame easier.
