Best Elden Ring Classes

Elden Ring: What is the Best Class for Beginners?

When it comes to Elden Ring classes, you have numerous high-quality options to explore The Lands Between. But which is the best class in Elden Ring? Which class will take you to new heights, to level 100 and beyond? It’s a toss-up, as everyone has their own unique playstyle, requirements, and ideal gear in mind.

Do you fancy yourself a melee master? How about a bow-wielding ranged class? Or, are you one of the seemingly few who genuinely enjoy using magic in Souls-like games?

Without further ado, let’s answer the question of what’s the best class to play in Elden Ring!

The All-Time Best Class in Elden Ring

As I previously said, everyone has a unique playstyle and class-specific preferences. Your all-time best class in Elden Ring may vary wildly from what I claim here, of course. That’s okay!

Personally, I believe the Vagabond is one of the strongest, most useful classes in Elden Ring at launch.

Elden Ring Vagabond

You begin the game with a tough starting weapon, and your class itself comes with high starting stats in Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity.

That being said, Vagabond is a pure melee build from the get-go. If you prefer ranged or magic, you’ll want to select a different starting class. But if your end-game goal is to specialize in, say, a strength-based weapon to topple foes big and small, then the Vagabond offers breathing room, consistently high stats, and it’s a ton of fun to play, which is arguably the most important fact.

Honorable Mentions for Best Class

If you don’t wish to play as the Vagabond, and, hey, who can blame you because there are a lot of unique, fun options, then here are a few alternative choices.

Samurai

When you want a pure Endurance build from the start, Samurai races ahead of the pack. With a versatile weapon selection, including the Uchigatana and a Longbow with both regular and fire arrows to pack a punch, the Samurai also features one of the—arguably—best starting weapon sets in Elden Ring, too.

Furthermore, the Samurai features unique move sets which lead to blood loss on foes when using the katana. It’s extremely useful for early-game mobs and even a few of the mini-bosses early on.

Hero

Think of the Hero as the iconic barbarian class in most RPGs. It’s a pure strength build, with a starting stat of 16, which is higher than any other class at the start.

When it comes to unleashing damage upon enemies, the Hero wields a battle-axe with the wild strikes move set to release high amounts of damage to various enemies big and small.

Furthermore, the Hero begins the game with the Champion’s Armor Set and a Leather Shield, making them a force on the battlefield.

There you have it, the best class in Elden Ring and two alternative choices to aid you in your journey. Which class do you prefer to play?
