No Man's Sky Tips for 2022

No Man’s Sky: Tips & Tricks for New Players

To say that No Man’s Sky had a rough start would be, for most, an understatement. I’m one of those unfortunate souls who preordered the game and, at release, sunk a total of forty minutes into the gameplay. I didn’t pick the game back up until a few major updates were implemented.

Now, I’m excited to say, No Man’s Sky is excellent in 2022. It’s worth every penny with expansion-sized content drops occurring regularly.

So, for new or returning players, here are a few No Man’s Sky tips for 2022!

What is the Fastest Way to Progress in No Man’s Sky?

No Man’s Sky is a unique combination of exploration, survival, and role-playing game. As such, you’ll want to follow a sort of progression in the game to better improve your character, weapons, tools, and even your spaceship.

How? What’s the fastest way to progress in No Man’s Sky?

Upload All Discoveries

Seriously, you’d be surprised to learn the number of players who forget to upload their discoveries. When you scan new flora or fauna on an alien planet, you’ll receive 200 credits. To some, that’s enough.

However, navigate to the pause menu and you can upload each discovery to a worldwide network. Uploading a complete system grants you 5,000 credits. An animal or planet will grant you 2,000 credits. A brand-new base grants you 1,000 credits. And flora provides you with 500 credits.

For an entire planet, that’s hundreds of thousands of credits in your account!

Make Friends

In No Man’s Sky, making friends provides unique bonuses to your progression path. For instance, by befriending wild fauna on alien planets, they could help you locate rare elements, multitools, or unique blueprints.

Eventually, by offering preferred bait and befriending local fauna, you could even wind up with a fun mount to roam the planet atop!

Learn the Language

As is key with inducting oneself into any culture, learning the language is the quickest way to a local’s heart. No Man’s Sky is no different.

Every planet features Knowledge Stones, Ruins, Monoliths, Plaques, and alien lifeforms roaming key points across the land. Through these objects and individuals, you can learn bits and pieces of an alien language. In time, you’ll speak it fluently.

What alien languages are in No Man’s Sky? You have Vy’keen, Korvac, Gek, and Atlas to learn. By learning the language, you’ll unlock unique trade benefits, open yourself to quests, and have a relaxing chat on a seemingly deserted planet to help you unwind!

Build Atlas Passes

In your journey across multiple star systems, you’ll stumble upon locked doors and containers. To open these, you’ll require an Atlas Pass. Thankfully, as you follow the main story, you’ll learn how to craft Atlas Passes.

For the pass, you’ll require Atlas Stones. Now, these sell for upwards of 70,000 credits per stone. It’s tempting to sell your Atlas Stones and bank a huge sum for, say, a ship upgrade. Don’t! Keep your Atlas Stones and, thereby, your Atlas Passes for something unique at the Center of the Galaxy!

Don’t Fear Blackholes

It’s easy to assume one should avoid a black hole at all costs, right? After all, general science fiction has warned space-farers against their all-destructive powers for generations.

But in No Man’s Sky, you shouldn’t fear black holes. In fact, you should embrace them. Literally.

A black hole in No Man’s Sky acts similar to a wormhole. You enter one end and come out elsewhere, to a new star system with plenty to explore.

Find a Companion

Traveling through space can grow quite lonesome for many adventurers. Find yourself a companion!

By using pellets, you can increase the trust and relationship of native creatures on any planet you see fit to eventually entice them into becoming a companion.

Where do you find pellets in No Man’s Sky? You can craft pellets using 60 Carbon for 20 Pellets. Then, once you’re near a fascinating lifeform, select the option to feed.

Once their trust is high enough, you can register your new pet as a companion. Even cooler is, that companions have unique abilities and capabilities to consider.

Upgrade Your Inventory

In a game about exploration, you’ll wind up spending tons of time in your inventory, collecting and crafting items to bolster your adventuring potential.

As such, it’s a smart move to upgrade your inventory in No Man’s Sky.

How?

It’s simple. Located in each star system is a space station. There, you’ll find inventory slot upgrades. These upgrades are generally found on the left-hand side of the space station, along the back wall.

Once you pay the monetary fee, you’ll receive a new slot in your inventory.

That being said, you can also receive free inventory upgrades by repairing Drop Pods occasionally found planetside.
