Minecraft Dungeons Quick Tips

To get you started in your dungeon-crawling adventure, here are a few quick tips for Minecraft Dungeons.

  1. Take time to replay each level in the game to accumulate better gear and more experience with both the combat and controls.
  2. If you want to progress in the game, play on easy difficulty. If you want the best gear, play on hard difficulty.
  3. Don’t bother saving your emeralds. Spend your accumulated stash on gear like armor and weaponry once you’re back at camp.
  4. Speaking of your camp, take time to explore the level. You’ll find a new hidden Lobby Chests filled with Emeralds.
  5. If you spot brown-colored pots that glow green in color, smash them. You’ll receive Emeralds.

Minecraft Dungeons and Its Emerald Economy

A big part of Minecraft Dungeons revolves around Emeralds. You gain Emeralds by leveling up your character, looting chests, and smashing pots and other destructible objects hidden throughout each level.

What do you use Emeralds for in Minecraft Dungeons? A lot!

You’ll use accumulated Emeralds to purchase equipment and upgrades at two unique vendors who appear at camp. These include the Blacksmith, who will show up following the completion of Creeper Woods for the first time, and the Wandering Trader, who appears after you finish the Pumpkin Patch level for the first time.

When you spend Emeralds at either merchant, they’ll provide you with a random piece of equipment — either gear from the Blacksmith or Artifacts from the Trader.

Gear includes armor, ranged weaponry, and melee weaponry. Artifacts, on the other hand, provide temporary boosts, like fire arrows or faster walking speed.

Furthermore, if you have too much gear taking up valuable inventory space, to acquire more Emeralds, you can salvage unused items and then purchase new, random pieces of equipment.

Skip the Waypoint

Okay, don’t skip the waypoint completely. You need to follow your objective to complete each level. But hey, during your dungeon-crawling adventure, why not explore a little?

If you take the less-beaten trail in Minecraft Dungeons, you will receive rewards. You’ll find additional enemies to stomp for extra experience points. You’ll find pots to smash for Emeralds, chests to loot, and other hidden secrets in each level.

You’ll Receive a Refund on Enchantment Points

Did you spend all of your Enchantment Points on a low-level piece of gear, only to discover it’s completely useless as you level up?

You’re not alone!

Here’s the good news, though. When you salvage a piece of equipment from your inventory, you’ll receive a refund for all of the Enchantment Points you spent, along with Emeralds, too.

Why? Because you don’t need to horde equipment in Minecraft Dungeons. It’s pointless. Instead, experiment with different gear and builds without fear of losing out on progress or strength quotas.

Minecraft Dungeons Mobs

Slay the Enchanters!

As you move through each level, you’ll note an abundance of enemy types to slash and hack your way through. One of them stands out as more of a nuisance than any other, though, right? It’s the Enchanter!

These purple-wearing mobs tend to throw magical abilities from afar, but ingratiate themselves in melee mobs to make it more difficult to slay them. Find a way to topple these magicians quickly and efficiently; otherwise, you’re going to have a tough time clearing that mob.

Tactical Retreats Are A-Okay

Minecraft Dungeons is a game about surviving to the end of each level to reap the rewards of your slaughter. The key is to survive.

If you find yourself face-to-face with a particularly tough mob, do not hesitate to turn tail and run. You can consider it a tactical retreat until you regather your strength and try an alternative method of attack.

Alternatively, try to kite tough enemies. You hit them once or twice, then turn and race back a bit. Let them come to you, then repeat the process until you’ve cleared the whole mob.

With these few starting tips for Minecraft Dungeons, we hope you enjoy your time delving into the block-based dungeons, ruins, and cities laid out before you!
