Animal Crossing: New Horizons — How to Remove A Player Home

So, you were one of the many who bought Animal Crossing: New Horizons to play with friends and family. But now, months down the line, you’re concerned about the space taken up by their derelict house. Well, you’re not alone. It is entirely possible to remove a player home, though!

How do you remove a player home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? It’s easier than you think!

Here’s How to Remove a Player Home

First and foremost, before you do anything else, ask the other player if it is OK to delete their house and account from your game. With the new Animal Crossing, all save game information is stored on the cartridge, not the console. You’ll need to delete their player file to remove the house.

With their go-ahead, here’s how to handle the removal of a second player’s home in New Horizons.

  1. First, launch Animal Crossing and select the second player (the one you’d like to remove). If you’re not careful you may delete the wrong player.
  2. Once you’re on the title screen, press the “-“ (minus) button on your Joy-Con, at the top left, to access the Settings menu of the game.
  3. Shortly thereafter, you’ll be greeted by Tom Nook who provides a warning about altering advanced settings, urging children to speak with their parents first. Once Nook asks what settings you’d like to play around with, select “Save Data Settings.”
  4. In the “Save Data Settings” menu, select “Delete Resident Registration.”
  5. Tom Nook will provide a customary warning that everything to do with the player, including their property, bells, and items, will be removed from the game.
  6. If you’re fine with this, confirm the deletion by choosing the “Delete Resident Registration” option a second time.
  7. Nook will provide you with one last warning, then a confirmation if you move ahead with the removal.

That’s all! You have now removed the second player home from your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island. With all of that free space, maybe you’ll want to invest in an orchard to Earn More Bells?!
