Lost Ark Tips and Tricks

Lost Ark: Tips and Tricks for New Players

Thanks to the budget of Amazon Games, Lost Ark finally ventured to the West. It’s an action RPG-slash-MMO with the most Korean aesthetic I’ve ever personally witnessed. But then again, I’m new to Korean video games overall. That didn’t stop me from enjoying the game, and now I’m here to bring you a few Lost Ark tips and tricks to help you enjoy your new adventure, too!

How to Level Fast in Lost Ark

As both an ARPG and an MMO, the entire point of Lost Ark is to progress your character to end game, find high-end loot, and slay hordes of monsters.

But here’s the thing about Lost Ark. The mobs provide very low amounts of experience points. So, unlike most other role-playing games of this nature, you won’t grind out countless mobs to level your character.

Instead, you’ll want to focus on completing main story quests and side quests, both of which provide copious amounts of experience points to help you level fast.

Alternatively, you can run dungeons—yes, even solo—and level quickly.

Fill the Adventurer’s Tome

Once you hit level 50, you’re technically at the “end game.” A lot of the world, quests, and events will open to you, and it can be a lot to manage for a new player.

A good rule of thumb is to focus your efforts on the Adventurer’s Tome. By default, you’ll hit ‘N’ on the keyboard to open the Tome. Here, you can move section by section, which yes, is time-consuming, to complete each zone, track down elite bosses, and open up secrets like unique dungeons with high-tier loot.

Visit Rapport NPCs Daily

Lost Ark features a unique mechanic to help you better connect with the world: Rapport.

During your adventures, you’ll stumble upon various NPCs with a heart identifying them as unique. These individuals provide rapport, so speak with them daily.

To raise their rapport, provide these unique NPCs with gifts, use emojis directed at them, and play songs. But you must visit each day to make any significant progress.

Forego Gear Upgrading

There’s a feature allowing you to upgrade your equipped gear by using various in-game resources. This feature allows you to transfer gear levels into new gear.

Overall, it’s a time-consuming, lackluster feature in need of a serious revamp. Right now, it’s easier to farm new, high-tier gear that outdoes your current equipment by far.

So, don’t bother upgrading with potentially valuable resources. Just farm a little!

Choosing a Class in Lost Ark

In Lost Ark, you’ll have access to a handful of classes to select. But know this: It’s not easy to level a character to max. If you choose a class, prepare for the long haul.

But here’s the kicker; you can start a new class anytime you want. If you’re not feeling your chosen class, restart!

  • Warrior
  • Martial Artist
  • Gunner
  • Mage
  • Assassin

Each of these character classes in Lost Ark plays vastly differently. Do not be afraid to experiment and test out each one before spending the time and energy to hit level 50.

Save Your RL Cash

As an MMO published by Amazon Games, expect a ton of microtransactions via the in-game store. Seriously, there are loads of categories filled with purchasable items already.

Even worse is, FOMO is genuine in Lost Ark. The studio constantly pushes limited-time deals on the store, and it’s tempting to buy a unique skin or item.

Instead, consider waiting. Once you hit level 50, are enjoying the end game grind, and are seriously putting hours into the game, then perhaps consider investing a little more money into the in-game store.

But then again, it’s your money. Don’t let anyone tell you how to spend your hard-earned cash.
