Dying Light 2 Zombies

Dying Light 2: How The Coop Mode Works

It’s a common sentiment amongst gamers that playing a horror game with a pal or two is infinitely better than a solo adventure. Dying Light 2 coop aims to amp up the mayhem with up to four players cooperating together to complete the story, parkour across the rooftops, and smash zombie skulls.

But first, how does Dying Light 2 coop work?

Is Dying Light 2 Coop Available for the Whole Game?

At first, it was unclear how much of Dying Light 2 will be accessible in cooperative gameplay. Techland is was somewhat mum on that aspect of the game before release.

However, the developer did reveal in a tweet earlier this month that, besides the opening prologue, players can complete the entire story mode in coop with up to three other players.

What about the epilogue?

Techland did state that finishing the game does “mean including the Epilogue.”

With much of Dying Light 2 focused on player choice and altering the world around you, it’ll be interesting to see everyone’s choices.

Will your buddy side with the Peacekeepers? Or are they Survivors through and through?

The Host Controls the World

Techland also revealed that, as is the norm in such games, only the player host of the cooperative session will enjoy world progression. The co-op players taking part in the game, however, do receive character progression.

What does that mean for your Friday night sessions? Only the host will make world-altering decisions. For everyone else, you’ll have to be satisfied stomping zombie heads and beating down bandits.
